We were extremely humbled to be crowned World Champions on Saturday, for the first time in the band's 52 year history.
Whilst the current members of the band were ecstatic about the announcement, the band would not have been able to achieve the prestigious title without the tireless hard work of former members, committee past and present and all our supporters including the parents of our teaching system since the band’s inception.
Our Novice Juvenile B band narrowly missed out of the prize list on Saturday, but their strong performances in both the qualifier and final is something the full organisation is extremely proud of; it is these youngsters that have been the backbone of the band for the last 52 years and many of the grade 1 members on Saturday are a product of this teaching system.
We were delighted that the Chairman of Peoples Ford, Brian Gilda, was there on Saturday to support the band and carry the RSPBA Jubilee Trophy off the park in front of the band. We also couldn’t have done it without their unwavering support.
Many congratulations to Simon Fraser University Pipe Band for their drumming result, Field Marshal Montgomery Pipe Band for winning the overall MSR and Inveraray & District Pipe Band for winning Champion of Champions.
You can watch our winning performances on the BBC Worlds page, on the Worlds Highlights show on BBC Scotland at 8pm on Friday 25th August or on BBC One Scotland on Sunday 27th August at 4.05pm.
